Competition is fierce

This painting, like all my work, is not merely a physical object but a product of my mind yet NOT imagination. I engage in mental activity such as critical thinking to reflect on topics. In this case, the theme is fierce competition among women. It is a natural, though very primitive form of engaging with the world and others.

Lemming

This painting explores sociocentric thinking and the ways in which it shapes and molds our behavior. Our lives are directly affected by our environment, upbringing, education, authority figures, culture, traditions. My intention of this work is to remind myself and others that opinions should not be taken for granted nor mistaken for a fact.

Broken Ego

I tried to deconstruct what makes some people not fully “there”, as if the social mask we all wear were not enough. Some people prevent not only others, but also themselves, from seeing who they truly are — broken and not fully, truly human.

This painting reflects my intention to portray young girls striving for perfection and chasing trends, in doing so, losing the authenticity that makes them human.

Show me someone who has not been broken in one way or another. Fortunately, being human means having the agency and the will to change, no matter how painful — it is within our control to fix.

Choice

Making a choice requires tremendous courage and willpower for anyone who wishes to live authentically. It is far easier to surrender not only your will but also your responsibilities to others, leaving yourself comfortable yet merely alive. A choice that demands so much, also gives much in return, especially the profound sense of freedom.

Aš(is) / Grounded

Feeling grounded is not rooted in ownership, property, or even social circle, community. Instead it’s a state of mind that must be cultivated by living with integrity: according to one’s values, conscience — remaining true to one’s authentic self. Living in accord (saying what you think & feel, doing what you think & feel) make us balanced and therefore grounded.

Parentification

Reproduction may be considered a driving force of evolution — at least it works in nature. However, what happens when the reproductive cycle becomes stagnant? Not in terms of quantity — we are, in fact, exceedingly proficient in that — but in terms of adaptation through the very capacity that distinguishes us from chimpanzees: higher cognition (moral judgement). This raises an uncomfortable question: what happens when people reproduce solely for the sake of reproduction?

Bond & Boundaries

Constant interaction is viewed as a form of care. Yet I feel distanced from this social framework because of my understanding of what care truly means. I believe that genuine care involves respecting an individual’s autonomy and freedom.

Dissociation

Dissociating from unwanted emotions —partly due to a reluctance to confront them and partly because, sociologically, certain emotions are regarded as shameful — makes us oblivious to the truth and to what being truly alive means.

Melancholic

Being sensitive and at times thinking about topics beyond my control, makes me experience periods of melancholy — a state of sadness due to helplessness. During these moments, I withdraw, finding comfort in stillness and observation, until something as simple as my pet’s playful behavior snaps me out of it and brings me back to reality.

Generations

“The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Understanding the past is essential — not only to avoid repeating mistakes, but also to recognize the path worth cultivating. I believe that humanity is moving in the wrong direction, placing increasing value of and attention on technology while destroying and neglecting the organic, natural, and subtle ways of living.

Self-sacrifice

This type of self-sacrificial behavior is becoming extinct even in cultures based on close family dynamics.

This painting reflects the byproduct of emigration, which affected a vast number of households in Lithuania. Many children grew up with grandparents or siblings, taking adult responsibilities at a very young age.

Home Alone

Being alone can initially seem like a truly frightening experience, until we learn to feel at ease in our own presence — gaining confidence in self-regulation rather than being dependent on external comfort or validation.

Perfect Match: BPD & NPD

Studying human behavior, I found a perfect couple: Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder tend to have exactly what the other needs — a need to self-regulate in response to the other’s control.

Limerence

The educational system I attended was based on stuffing kids like ducks with information. Memorization was skill number one, and it didn’t matter whether you truly understood what you were learning, as long as it could marinate enough to get you through schooling. Today, imagination is celebrated — so long as the ideas (unnecessary and worthless) are quirky, distorted, mystical, funny, and unusual. Unfortunately, fantasy often takes precedence over reason, creating not only a gateway for miscommunication and unrealistic expectations, but also distorting our perception of reality — resulting in psychological pathology.

Departure

Departing from a friendship, partnership, or any membership is not only a physical separation, but we must deal mentally and that is much harder because, as we part, we destroy the inner world both created.
